Every year, hundreds of international scientists visit us to observe the stars through our instruments. 10% of the total observation nights are reserved for local astronomers and students to support Chile’s national science development. We are now outside the Irenée du Pont telescope, named after an American philanthropist who loved astronomy. It is LCO’s second oldest telescope, and it is still operational since its first observation in 1977. Shall we come inside to see it?
